Scripts

Scripts.
Slug line- at the start of every scene.
when you do films at different angles its called a coverage. Also you repeat the scene over and over again just in different set ups.
When the same sequence of story is in a different room its a new scene.
The lighting crew (gaffer) need to know if the scene is in the day or night so then they know what type of lighting to use. The directors also help with the choices of the lighting.
Film out of sequence- when you are in one room you film all of the scenes you need for in that room so then you don't waist any time or money. This is good for directors but not for actors because it can confuse them in scenes. It can confuse them because you are not doing the film in the right order (sequence).
When a new character is introduced you have to put it in capital letters in the script. This is so then the assistant director knows that there is a new character but you don't use capital letters every time you use the name in the script. Also you have to put the age in brackets. If a character is given a name they have to keep the same name through out the hole script this is so then the actors and directors don't get confused through out the film. They also have to do the same with locations.
Even if a characters identity changes throughout a film they are still referred to as there original name. This is so then there is no confusion through out the film and to actors and directors.
When making a film give a few clues to what is happening but not to many. This keeps the audience intrigued and they will want to work out what will happen through out the film.
If you need something later on in the film you need to tell the set designer at the start before you start filming the film.
When writing a script you need to put the dialogue in the centre of the page.
Sound affects need to also in capital letters e.g "TING".
You use metaphors to show horror parts e.g If in a scene someone is killing them self you would reflect this by dramatically showing a mug of tea dropping to the ground and smashing on the ground.
Don't use Microsoft word for scripts!
Scripts are written is present tense.
1 page of script is roughly 1 minute long.
Exterior- Outside
Interior- Inside
A call sheet is made for the crew (everyone) so then they know where to go and how to get to where they need to be.

Production

What I learnt about Pre-Prod.

Pre-Production
Production
Post Production

The term 'script is locked' means that you can not change anything on the script except for the director.

A 'script editor' is someone who checks to make sure that the script is right and also gives notes only on the script.

Visualize is part of pre-production.

Producers need investors sometimes because they care about the money. But when they are done they need to give back the investments (ROI- return of investments).

Line Producer is someone who looks for appropriate locations.

Director of photography is someone who is in charge of what cameras they use.

'gaffer' is an on site lighting director and also deals with electricity.

'colour temperature' is colour change in the skin. daylight- blue tones in the skin. Normal inside lighting- Orange, yellow etc. But a camera can not tell the difference between the colour so you use colour corrector.

Data Wrangler -gets the information.

Work Flow - from camera to 'cinema'.
